Kim and Merten had a destination wedding in Bloemhof at Almar Game Reserve. It was probably one of the hottest days of the year and on this particular day – I regretted my uniform, black top and black pants. As you can imagine, we roasted! Nothing takes away the joy & love from this day though. Kim was so nervous to meet her groom for their ‘first look’ – it was really romantic and sweet to watch. They looked like two teenagers in love and so giddy with each other. The photo shoot that followed was such fun. We jumped into the game vehicle and off we went to a private location – an old ruins on the farm. It was quiet, secluded and slightly cooler out of the sun.
After the first look shoot, the ceremony started and as it was so hot, Kim nearly fainted toward the end. As she was sitting down, I had an “awwe” moment, when her son reached over, gave her a hug and whispered rather loudly with such concern, ‘Mom, are you alright!’. He kept on holding her hand – very worried about his beautiful mom.
The reception was quite a hooly! They had mentioned that they had crazy fun friends, and as the night continued, the party really got started! Merten’s speech was filled with the guys spraying him with foam, shooting fake guns and shouting! He was such a good sport & when he eventually was allowed to talk, his speech was fantastic.
Thanks to Dirk, my special second shooter and assistant. He was such a help the whole day! Thank you :)
