Wedding Tips: Help a Bride out

My sister and a close friend got engaged recently, and through helping them with advice & suggestions, I’ve realised that even though everyone goes to weddings at some point as a guest, you don’t always take notice of the little things, such as the running of the day, the time involved to make the order of service (which usually end up becoming a paper fanning device), the seating plan that drew sweat and tears, the make up trials, hair trials and waxing sessions for the bride to look her best. And this is where as a wedding photographer, I have a huge advantage to help my sister and friend getting married with a few of the finer details which one may forget about or think is not a big deal.

So I’ve decided to help-a-bride-out with a tip every fortnight. I know there are tons of wedding blogs that already do this, but I want to give a few tips to brides who are bit over-whelmed by the whole wedding planning and give advice on the small things that will make a big difference on the day to you, your husband-to-be and the smooth running of the special day.

Help-a-Bride-out Tip:

When booking your make up artist, make sure you book them with enough time to finish you without rushing. The bride will generally have her makeup done last as she is the last to get into her dress and then start having bridal photos. (You need everyone to be finished with their makeup and hair so they can dress you & concentrate on you) You will also want some bridal photos of you and your bridesmaids, mom etc, but if the make up artist is late, there will be no time for this.

I’ve seen it happen often, and unfortunately the bride is unable to relax, take a breather, and have fun photos because she is late to walk down the aisle. This can set a bad tone for the rest of the day.
