Diana and Edwin Tsvangirai’s Wedding, Pabani Lodge, Harare, Zimbabwe

What an honour and privilege I had of photographing two very special families and people coming together. Diana and Edwin got married at Pabani Lodge in front of five hundred international, and local guests. The decor was out of this world, with gorgeous glassware and pretty roses adorned with gold cloth & gold chairs. You may remember Diana and Edwin from their engagment shoot with me. They are a couple in love and it is so sweet to watch them together.

Edwin’s father is the Right Honourable Prime Minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai. It was such an honour to meet him, and I was humbled by his kind, considerate and loving character. He was a proud father at Edwin and Diana’s wedding, just as Diana’s parents were, as they walked her down the aisle.

There is nothing more enchanting than the sound of African songs, and the harmonies of the songs. I found out the Diana also has a beautiful voice, as while her family were dressing her, she was singing along and it was quite a beautiful experience to be in the room filled with such emotion and melody.

I don’t think anything beats the look of a man at the first sighting of his bride. Raw emotion is how I like to describe it. After that, they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other all day long! :)

I was also lucky enough to work with wedding coordinator, Zillah & Harold Chilowa, from Tangerine Company, who ran the day smoothly, calmly and with a smile on their face from the beginning to end.

Thank you Diana and Edwin, for allowing us to photograph & share this special day with you.

Alana I’ve been following your photos and blog (hello! I’m a friend of Dirk’s from Rotary/Rhodes days!) and I am so moved by your photos! I feel as though I can track a maturing process, just over the last few months: you seem to be getting better and better at capturing these intimate, wholehearted expressions of emotion. This set is exquisite. You’re an inspiration to find a vocation, and to do it with a full heart!! Can’t wait to see more of your work…. :o) xx

Wow, love the colours of this wedding. And I love the bridesmaids dresses, what a brilliant idea to mix two colours like that. You must have felt so honored to photograph this wedding.

I absolutely enjoyed seeing your wedding photos Diana. A very beautiful bride and handsome groom but most of all seeing you smiling, happy and joyful. Your first year celebration is not far away and I trust (after meeting you both in humble Fairfield for lunch one day) that you both are still very much in love and smiling.
